Dr. Reza Montazami of Iowa State University has been awarded a Partnership Development Grant for his proposal, “In Situ Resource Utilization: 3D Printing of Mechanical Structures from Regolith.” This research aligns with NASA Ames Research Center’s strategic goal of In Situ Resource Utilization. This will solve the problem of the very limited availability of synthetic materials on the Moon and Mars. Dr. Montazami will investigate manufacturing techniques tailored for 3D printing mostly using in situ resources.
